I have always done a little woodworking but never seemed to have time to really get into it. As the time for retirement neared, I began to put my shop in place. Built a new shop right behind my home, this way there will be no reason not to spend time daily in the shop. Even with all the planning I still need more room, wish I had put a restroom and deep sink.
I have Dad and Granddads hand tools from their work shops. They really made tools to last back then. I also have Granddad’s 60+ year old Craftsman table saw. It still works, just not safe to use. Table saw has on-off switch on the motor. Will be adding a safety switch on front of table.
I've been a little slow posting my work. I'll try harder next year or maybe the year after.

Hey Mike….Your story sounds eerily just like mine. I started building my shop about 5 years ago getting prepared for retirement (which actually happened at the end of March last year) and so that I would be able to do more woodworking. I’m from Indiana, too (Elkhart).

I also wish the shop had a restroom (got the fridge though). I’m going to be adding you to my friends list. Maybe we could talk some more down the road.

Dave

Hi Mike,
I am not retired yet. Did the same started a shop.
Never have posted the shop yet, just too dirty!
Your’s is nice.

Too late for me to welcome you to a site, you found it before I did.
I have the restroom 4X8 …........stack lumber on top of it.
