I've been doing woodwork for about 25 years but only came into a real passion for it after making my first pole lathe windsor chair in 2006 in the hills of NSW in the middle of a chilly winter.
In recent years I came to live n Armidale NSW and took up woodwork with the local seniors group without much of an idea of what I wanted to make. As it is a four season city (rare in Australia) I needed somewhere to store wood for my fire so embarked in making a woodshed and using all recycled timbers and left over roofing iron and cladding.

My reason for joining this group was to contact one of its members to find out the dimensions of timber supports for a drop leaf table which I found after a long search and emailing another member who was not the person who made the supports.
Having recently bought an old circular pedastal table which was warped but flattened out by clamping, I decided to make it into a drop leaf giving me more usability in a small work room. However the supports I had seen were metal and nothing available in Oz so I opted to look for timber supports and ended up on this site after finding photos on another site ?? linked to this one.
When I feel more at home I will post some of the things I have made most of which are using recycled timbers from the local waste tip which is where the workshop is based.

Thank you Hermit, Sewing and teaching my 60+ years of sewing is my BIG passion and woodwork just seems to be an extension of it. Growing up in the textile city of Manchester UK with a granny who worked in a cotton mill, it was in my blood from early on.
Ithought I had retired but as it got known in my fairly recent new city, I was asked to sew and teach so resurrected a very old website from 1997 and couldnt believe how much the website area has changed from having used Frontpage and an ftp program to get the first site up and running. Bu it all adds to the brain matter staying active. I’m pretty open as to where it will take me in the coming years even more so since the recent death of Robin Williams and the sadness of his inability to hang in despite his diagnosis.
