I got my start woodworking in the Army at the wood shop on base, but didn't really get serious about it until I got married, and realized that I could make furniture a lot cheaper than I could buy it. Well, good furniture, I mean. When we bought our first house, I expanded into cabinet work, and my wife surprised me with a Craftsman Radial Arm saw. 25 years later, I still have it, but it doesn't get as much use anymore due to having bought other toys...oops, I mean tools.
Although I like working with fine woods, you'll notice that a lot of my projects involve OSB, recycled lumber, plywood that's been biscutted/glued to re-form larger panels, etc. My inner pack-rat doesn't want to throw anything useful away. Although, we just like the look of nicely finished OSB.
It's really great to see all the imaginative things that other folks have come up with on this site.

I don’t know who thought up this one, but I thought I would share it. My house is a 1920’s Craftsman bungalow, and in adding to it, I’ve put a lot of effort into keeping the original feel with 5 panel doors, all stained to match...
I’ve been working on these for almost a year now. As with any serious project, I build a prototype/model out of cardboard full scale. The main reason for the cardboard is so that we can slice/dice/tape/glue the prototype into what we wan...
