Just another retired guy from SW Michigan, who likes to make boxes, furniture, and a few turned pieces.

I also enjoy making Kentucky Rifles, Custom Mausers, a few knives, and bamboo fly rods. Last year I was off on a tangent making kitless custom fountain pens. Lately though, it's been mostly boxes. I keep pushing to make the best box I can make, and tend toward the traditional. My boxes owe their genetics to Andrew Crawford, both his books and his personal help.

I don't sell anything. I just continue to try to make the best box I can produce, and discover better ways of making them. Lately, I've enjoyed making photo documentaries of the process. I've completed three eBook projects so far. Available for download at www.smartboxmaker.com.

My newfound interest in French marquetry has been supplemented with two weeks at the American School of French Marquetry in San Diego. Now, it's down to practice ...practice.

Welcome to Lumberjocks. The projects are an inspiration, the information is priceless and the people are supportive. The only problem is, the site can get addictive.

God Bless

Welcome to Lumber Jocks! This is a great place to get – or give – advice about woodworking on the forums and the project posts are a wonderful source of new ideas. I look forward to seeing your projects and posts.

To get the most feedback on your projects, it’s best to only post 1 or 2 at a time. This way you will get feedback over several days and from a wide variety of members.

Please enjoy your membership.

Roger, Usually, the small box bottoms are lined with black velvet. I have done a couple of jewelry boxes with dividers and trays. Your boxes are extraordinary….some day, I aspire to reach your level.
