March 2014 - Shop tour:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ikE59FDu7vI&list=HL1394326190&feature=mh_lolz

When I was in Grade 9, I was in the first group of girls to be exposed to 'industrial arts' in our area. I turned a lamp during the woodworking portion and absolutely loved the process. I never really thought much about it over the years, but used to joke that when I grew up, I wanted to be a carpenter.

With a busy family and demanding career, I didn't know if I'd ever have time to try woodworking again. Two years ago, I developed some health issues and was off work for a period of time. I turned to woodworking to keep my mind busy and to challenge myself. I was hooked.

I work out of our crowded attached garage. The most important thing in there is my workbench. I get great pleasure in just simply running my hand over the bench top or opening my chisel drawer.

I used to think I was missing the female shopping chromosome until I discovered LEE VALLEY!

Welcome to Lumberjocks Sandra. You are taking the right approach to woodworking by reading, asking, and doing. That is how many of us, including myself, got started. We are all looking forward to seeing more of your projects. The pantry shelves look great and are a practical way to start your woodworking journey.

Good place to start out. Lots of helpful advice. LOL! Helps when you don’t have a personal mentor. If I’d known about it before I made all thoses mistakes….?

A bit late to welcome you but… welcome. I’m from NH but was born in Moncton. My wife and I spent a couple of weeks in NB visiting relatives in the area. Love to have breakfast at Cara’s in Fredericton.

Thanks Bernie. I was born in Fredericton but grew up in Moncton. Small world. We love Cora’s too.
