Woodworking is the oldest of my many hobbies and interests. I received my first tool set (real tools) from my father for Christmas when I was six years old; and, I’ve been collecting tools and playing with wood ever since. I grew up on a farm, so learning to use tools (all kinds) was second nature. And, one of our family tales is that my great grandfather Filler was an itinerant carpenter who helped build the Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs, Arkansas—I inherited his tool chest and keep it in my shop.

Winter weekends usually find me in my shop working on some project, while my summer weekends are spent at the gun club or fly fishing. I also enjoy reloading (rifle, pistol and shotgun) and fly tying. My wife and I live outside of town on some acreage where she enjoys her poodles and is into Standard Poodle rescue big time. Our horses are now just big lawn ornaments. My wife and I are actively involved in politics, but I have neither the desire nor intent to mix any of that with my presence on L.J.

Woodworking is particularly enjoyable for me because it results in a tangible product that I can actually see, touch and visually enjoy (as opposed to the intangible nature of that which I do for a living). I look forward to sharing some of the things I have made over the years and the things I hope to complete in the future. I know I certainly enjoy seeing what others make and are willing to share on L.J.

If any one would like to know any more about me, this is "The Rest of the Story": http://lumberjocks.com/CricketWalker/blog/41474

Welcome, a little late I know. Thx for adding me to your buddie list, I did the same. I like the pic of the fish. I do alot of fishing here in California and in Michigan when I lived there ages ago. Just bought me a Penn 2 speed this weekend, onlly another fisherman would understand that excitment…LOL
